Summary
Thanking her for her letter and saying that he's the one who should be thanking her for the nice things she said about him and his feeble efforts. He says that he thinks the letters she speaks about to D. Percival and M. Sargent could be helpful. Sargent is “a great French scholar,” having lived for a long time in France and Russia. Steel says that he himself is not a very important person in Britain and that the chances for the success of their project would be better if someone more influential were interested in it. However, he will continue to do his best and will go to discuss the matter with Sargent when he has received the letter to find the best way of obtaining a class.
