Summary
Saying that he talked to someone about business or personal matters, and this person gave him news of Cavaillon and spoke to him about his discussions with Maitre Roche, the notaire (a kind of low-level lawyer for house sales, etc.). He assured him that he has wonderful melons, as good as during the summer (Cavaillon is known for its melons). Henri should be grateful for the zeal of the notaire and purchase some melons from him, but Henri fears that they won't be good for Rose, who appears to have a stomach or intestinal problem.
