Summary
Thanking the recipient for inquiring about her/him and apologizing for not replying sooner. Even in the country, far from noise and other people, one can't do what one wants. He/she also wanted to clarify his/her plans, and time passes quickly before he/she can finish them. He/she does not lose hope of returning to Paris for a while, but not this month. The writer ”desires to let the first effervescence of pleasure pass by.” Despite the winter and fears of war, M. Latour du Pin et M. Viennet have not lost the bloom of their youth. The years pass, difficult for everyone except them. More news of sick and dead friends.
