Notes
Written from "Lilies" (i.e. the family seat of Lord Nugent, located in Weedon near Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire); dated "Wednesday 21st."
Addressed to "My dear Miss Stuart" (Rose Blaze de Bury, née Stuart, married Henri Blaze de Bury some time in 1844).
First portion of letter only, lacking signature.
Year of writing suggested by internal evidence: the letter evidently dates from the time before Rose Blaze de Bury's marriage in 1844, and the writer refers to the public revelation in 1844 that letters from Italian refugees in England had been secretly detained and copied on the authority of Home Secretary Sir James Graham (1792-1861)
