Summary
Writing that he has cabled and written her and that he is able to send her "the cattle project"; discussing the progress of his various business interests, including the Columbus & Ohio Rail Road, the Kings County Railroad, telling her that he is waiting for them to mature before contacting her, which he will do only when they are in perfect order; addressing her expressed interest in acquiring "a good ranch in the 'Pan-Handle' of Texas" and enclosing some information on the best available; advising her that the best places have been taken-up, mentioning some investors who have bought up ranch land in Texas, assuring her that he has enclosed a project "concerning the largest and best", and warning her that he cannot hold it for her friends for very long; stating that this is "too valuable and important an affair to be dealt with in any but the most business way", and if she has "competent parties in France who are earnest in this business", they should "send here without delay"; stressing the size and value of the ranch in question, and stating that there is little point in starting negotiations unless the parties in France actually have the money to pay for it; writing that he does not like to have her "day after day giving your time in your present needful state, in the service of others, and waiting, waiting for what you need for daily use."; concluding that, should this prospect fail in France, little else is likely to succeed, and he should not be expected to serve her further.
