Summary
Concerning her recent illness and a disagreement between the Lariss's and Blaze de Bury over the latter's "too great admiration of our nemesis", and remarking that she does not wish their correspondence to be a "continued political battle", especially given that she is not able to closely follow the news reported in Polish and German; discussing her continued weakness and the health of her new baby, who is happy and thriving and is "the very merriest and most good-tempered little thing"; remarking on Blaze de Bury's difficulties with her own child (i.e. Yetta), and her thoughts on the appropriate means of disciplining of children; thanking Blaze de Bury for sending her one of her books and requesting that she send them further reading material in the form of newspaper articles, as her husband has nothing to do on winter evenings and consequently will not leave her alone; mentioning the political situation in France; lamenting their financial reverses, loss of crops, and pressing medical bills; writing that she had an opportunity to play the piano and "got through two of Julliette Dillon's contes"; expressing surprise that Blaze de Bury has given up music for watercolor painting and tapestry; asking after Mrs. Dunbar; writing that her sister Henrietta "leads a melancholy life & her four wild boys are too much for her"; inquiring after mutual friends and acquaintances.
