Summary
Confirming receipt of a parcel and informing her that she returned some books that Madame de Bury had lent her; informing her that their accommodations had proven very comfortable, but complaining of the dishonesty and insolence of the landlady who, she relates, overcharged them and turned them out of their rooms early; expressing her hope that Madame de Bury will visit London and her regret that she had not made her acquaintance sooner, and adding "I cannot either think with any composure of the possibility of my having been able to take a walk with our beloved Cousin at Montmorency [a reference to their mutual acquaintance Victor Cousin]" and asking her to bring her his photograph when she comes to England; asking for the name of a "most interesting young man" she met recently, and expressing her admiration for his "great superiority of mind"; mentioning her friends, the Autrans [possibly a reference to Joseph Autran (1813-1877) and Louise Clémence Autran], observing that "he is quite a poet", and sending Madame de Bury a letter by him with a request that it be returned after she has read it.
