Inquiring about her health, asking that she not not frank her letters, as "I never care what I pay for hearing from my friends", expressing her hope that she did not offend Blaze de Bury by speaking too candidly in her last letter on the subject of the priests in Italy; writing that she is looking forward to an article to published in August, mentioning that Professor (Alexander Campbell) Fraser was named to the Chair (of Logic) at Edinburgh, and that she did not like (Johanna) Wagner's performance in the title role in "Lucrezia Borgia", preferring (Giulia) Grisis in the role, and offering further criticisms of Wagner's singing; asking if she has seen "the Illustrious one" (i.e. Victor Cousin) and if she has read Ernest Bersot's Essai sur la Providence.
