Summary
Commiserating with Madame de Bury and her husband on having the influenza; remarking that she has finished an article and that it will not appear until August; thanking her for "telling me how you had treated the subject", and saying that she will get her friends to get copies of the book and "write to the editor on the subject"; writing that she has spoken to her brother-in-law, General [Charles] Grey regarding a request made by Madame de Bury and explaining that he is too busy at present "with his Secretaryship to Prince Albert" to oblige her, but that "he may be able to do something for the cause" later in the year; noting that she has sent her some English newspapers and remarking that "the speech of the D. de Broglie attracted much attention here"; asking if the speech by the Archbishop of Paris on the peace has been published, as she has been unable to get through her bookseller; regretting that Madame de Bury will not be visit London; expressing her appreciation for Victor Cousin's "Santa-Rosa."
