Summary
Writing at length about the failure of his play, "Guy Domville"; describing the English theater as a "barbarous hole" and "an abyss of vulgarity"; adding that "Every one who went to see it at all appears to have gone 4 times (a lady, the other night, told me she had been 11!) but the big fat public kept away; so it ran only 5 weeks & has just come to an end"; thanking her for her sympathy and saying he hopes to see her soon.
