Doyle lists the date of writing as "Sunday Morning March 5th 1843," but he had already written a letter on that date. Scott suggests that the correct date is the Sunday that followed, March 12th. See note 1 in The Illustrated Letters of Richard Doyle to His Father, p. 162.
