Summary
A series of letters from the American playwright, director, and screenwriter Arthur Laurents to the dancer Robert Pagent, who appeared in Carousel, Oklahoma!, and many other productions. The letters date from the period of their romantic relationship and contain substantive personal references to dozens of people in theater and film, including Jerome Robbins, Marlon Brando, Ingrid Bergman, Lena Horne, and Bette Davis. Laurents wrote these letters during the early part of his career; at the time, he had already written the screenplay for Hitchcock's Rope and was working on the play that David Lean would turn into the film Summertime.
