Offers advice about traveling in Switzerland and choosing a guide. Explains that if he had come himself, he would have only been an encumbrance, as he is sadly nervous and unwell. As a postscript, adds that a sagacious guide like [Joseph] Couttet [the Ruskin family's longtime Alpine guide and friend] is more useful, even in places unfamiliar to him, than a lout who only knows one way.
