Summary
Apologizing for having seen so little of Madame Blaze de Bury during the latter's stay in London and explaining that she was taken ill during "the first representation" of (Meyerbeer's opera) Dinorah (i.e. Pardon de Ploërmel) and was obliged to leave the theater during the second act, after which she was confined to her bed for five days, being unable "to speak at all"; explaining that she was not made aware of Blaze de Bury's attempts to call on her during this time "which I can only account for by the orders given by my Doctor that I shd. be kept very quiet"; writing of her enjoyment of the 1st act of the opera, especially the Overture and the performance of Mme. Miolan (i.e. Caroline-Marie Carvalho); noting that she is sending the letter via Lord Brougham.
