Summary
Expressing her pleasure in reading Madame de Bury's favorable notice, written under the pen name "Arthur Dudley", of "My young poet" (i.e. her son Julian Fane) and herself whch appeared in the "Revue des Deux Mondes": "We have read together your clever & ingenious article with the greatest pleasure ... I am most grateful to you for associating my name with those eminent men in Berlin whom I really love as friends as well as admire in their different attributions"; saying that she misses Berlin, despite the brilliance and loveliness of Vienna, and that she doesn't expect to get to England that year, as the political situation is too fraught to allow her husband, Lord Westmorland, to leave his post; (continuing the letter on July 20) informing Madame de Bury that she has just received a letter from her and expressing her pleasure at hearing that her book is in the process of being published; sending her regards to Mr. de Bury and asking her to tell Meyerbeer of a "Slavonian tenor here with a splendid voice named Steger" who "sings the part of Raoul in a way that convinces me much might be made of him".
