Summary
Saying that he received her moving letter with the photographs and thanking her for all the work she did in Chicago; adding that he sent the photos and all the information to his secretary's office in Paris so that everything could be written down in the records, but many of the titles of the paintings are incorrect; responding that his secretary will send her the correct titles and may ask her for other information; voicing that he is not concerned that some of the works that Maury had collected may have changed hands and is not at all angry at Ruth for having sold them and that he can understand that she was not as passionate about art as Maury or Frankie, and she may have needed the money; stating that he would have preferred that the entire collection remain together as a memory of Maury, but at least they have kept a good number of them, although he feels bad for Frankie that some of the paintings have changed hands because he knows how sad she feels about that; reflecting that he knows this has caused friction between Ruth and Frankie and would prefer if they drop the matter since he would feel terrible that the paintings were the cause of their probelms; mentioning how important it is for him to know who owns the painting "Le Géologue" and that he hopes Ruth will let him know so he can get in contact with them; adding that the painting is so important to Dubuffet because it is the first in his series "Sels et terrains"; writing that for the past year he has been putting together a photo archive of all his old works, which has included contacting a large number of collectors and art dealers and procuring photos that he doesn't already have; proclaiming that a major book in several volumes is being prepared about his work. and it will be a complete catalogue that includes repoductions [photos] of all of them--several thousand.
