Informing her that he has received the proof of her article for the Universal (Review) and that it is to "lead off" the August number, and suggesting that it might excite more attention appearing at the beginning of that number, although it was supposed to appear in July; telling her that he will take her letter (i.e. her letter from Paris as a newspaper correspondent) to see what he can do for her and apologizing for the delay on the part of the Star in (in getting back to him regarding her letter) and emphasizing how competitive the newspaper business is at present and mentioning the great losses some men, such as the founder of the Leader, have experienced.
