Expressing her regret at missing her in London, thanking her for her offer to send her a maid, adding "I suppose the conditions wd. remain the same as with Clémence's sister - not more than £16 a year besides tea & beer if she needs it for her health - & that she is to be our needlewoman principally", detailing the proposed maid's list of responsibilities and desired qualifications; saying that they have taken a house in Eaton Square and that Lord Elgin is in Glasgow "for his inauguration as Lord Rector".
