Portrait of Sir Philip Sidney, reclining full-length on an outcropping beneath a tree, with a castle visible in the background at right; he leans on his right arm with his hand against his cheek, and holds a book in his other hand; he wears a goatee and mustache, with a brimmed hat with a long feather on his head, a short ruff with jerkin over striped doublet and hose, and a sword resting at his side on the ground at right and a glove at left.
