Manuscript of an historical and geographic treatise of France, including frontipiece and title-page followed by a leaf bearing an explanation of the frontipiece drawing by M. Casin, 8 page introduction (numbered "viii"), text of the "Traité historique de la France" in 410 numbered pages, followed by a 44 page index ("Table alphabétique") numbered "xliv", and 133 pages for the "Traité geographique de la France."
Illustrated with a full-page frontispiece executed in black ink and ink wash and 9 head- and tailpiece ornaments, unsigned but identified in a note on the left-hand page facing the title as the work M. Casin ("Le dessin est de M. Casin, artiste qui s'est prêté aux vues de l'auteur, avec autant de gout, que de désintéressement."); pages ruled in graphite and ink, with the titles written in red ink.
Frontispiece drawing is unsigned; what appear to be initials inscribed on a globe at lower right of the design have been heavily struck-out in brown ink and rendered illegible; green ink from the title page has transferred to the surface of the drawing at several places.
