Summary
Saying "I am very sorry that I do not feel able to take this article. It came just as I was leaving town for 2 or 3 days, or I would have answered sooner. I think that you have been a little too antiquarian for English readers; & have given too elaborate a summary of your [illegible] proceedings & journal. It strikes me as rather raw materials for an article, than an article itself - I venture to say this straightforwardly because I know that you can write articles when you have a mind. After all, you must remember that the interest of the British public on the Comedie Francaise is a rather transitory & occasional phenomenon & will hardly carry them to any interest in the [illegible] stories coming out of it;" suggesting another approach and concluding "Anyhow I am forced to say that I don't think this quite satisfactory."
