Summary
Saying "I am afraid that Burnand is right - as to the Burlesque. I cannot be certain here but I do not think that the collected edition of Thackeray's works has any authority in such matters & my impression is that poems appeared during T's lifetime amongst the "Miscellanies" without any such title as Burlesque. Indeed I should say that it could not properly be called a burlesque in any case & I expect that it was added to that volume for printers convenience."
