Summary
Saying "Many thanks for the London. I have not the least doubt that it does ample justice to Johnson &, indeed, guess that it errs on the pleasantest side. But I make it a principle never to send any thing about myself unless I am forced : having discovered that such reading is always a worry : and praise being only less disagreeable to me than blame. I am quite confident that your article is all that I could wish. If I meet Morley, as I shall probably do before long, I will suggest Stevenson to him for Burns : of course I cannot tell what he would think. I began the "Inland Voyage" yesterday at the Club & was interrupted before I had read much : but what I read seemed to me excellent. I cannot say that I was equally pleased with the Arabian Nights. However I have no doubt of his literary faculty & only wish to see him settle down to some good bit of work. I hope that London thrives & that you are better. I note your address. Mine is as above."
