Summary
Saying "Here are verses enough. I don't know if they are of any use. The legend and the Gorliot of course are fudge. I have not seen Stevenson's book, I am glad it is good, it seemed rather slight to put his name to, when he had left so much unsigned. I liked Pan's Pipes, but I think he needs more room than a weekly paper gives. I hope it will sell, and that I may have a chance to puff it;" adding, in a postscript, "The verses are a sort of memory of the Pervigilium Veneris. Perhaps the little sonnet is more likely to suit. If the title is profane it need not stand."
