Summary
Asking Quinlan to "[d]o as an old friend" and "take the trouble of reading my speech yesterday in both the Register and Freeman and collecting from both the real speech -- It will be troublesome but it will be the more kind;" mentioning an attack, which he believes was "suggested by some connected with the government;" discussing strategies for the response and saying that he does not want Conway (probably a reference to Frederick Conway) to go out of his way.
