Notes
The letter is simply dated "Saturday" but it seems likely that the year of writing was 1878 given that the previous five letters from Ferrier to Henley (MA 1617.144-148) were all written in 1878. Henley was the Editor of "London Magazine" from December 15, 1877 until April 5, 1879 and published some of Ferrier's work during that period.
Provenance
Purchased as the gift of Edwin J. Beinecke, 1955.
Summary
Saying "I don't know whether you can print the enclosed or not - You don't often get letters so it may be a change for your readers. Of course if you do use it, it is free, gratis & for nothing. I like your Verne. Who wrote [illegible]? If you did there is a touch (to me) of Stevenson in it. Where is S? Beautiful weather here. Only man is vile!"
