Summary
Concerning the agreement with Haldane Crichton; saying "We are favoured with your letter of yesterday and enclose copy of a letter (see Note above) which we have addressed to Mr. Haldane Crichton, and which we hope correctly expresses the agreement between you. Upon receipt of this letter you should proceed to Stationers Hall and there register the copyright of the play. In the register all licenses affecting the copyright should also be entered and this will keep matters in strict formal order. You should mark each copy of the play you give away with a notice that it is so registered. When at Stationers Hall please ask for a sight of the usual form of a license to perform plays and send a jotting of it to us. We could, of course, prepare a binding deed in our own way, but it would be preferable to use the ordinary form if there be one."
