Summary
Saying "Thanks. Kindly send me per return two or three more books. I may mention the sketches you sent me were useless as the principal part the figures were so frightful. I have had four scenes done myself, which have turned out a great success, & have caused great admiration. Having a great bother with actors of any position. The Lawson pronounces part & piece utterly bad & wouldn't sacrifice his position by playing it. The Deacon has thrown up his part, saying it must be an utter failure & using such language I can't repeat. Have now engaged another man at a very heavy salary and am almost afraid to send him part, as he is the third. I hope the bad opinions of the actors will be belied by the public."
