Housed with a letter from Mitchell & Baxter, W.S. to W. E. Henley dated 7 December 1882 and with a copy of a letter from Baxter to Crichton of the same date confirming the terms of the agreement of Henley and Stevenson with Haldane Crichton (MA 1617.131).

Saying "Hereby agree to produce your drama "Deacon Brodie", which you are to have licensed for production at Pullan's Theatre Bradford Dec. 21 '82. Conditions : - I am to have the sole right of representation in Great Britain (except London) and Ireland, I. of Man and Channel Islands for one year from 21st Dec '82, with the option of renewal for a further period on the same terms. I further agree to pay you 5pc of the gross receipts for every representation of said drama, to be remitted weekly, accompanied by resident manager's returns. You to have option of cancelling this agreement if payments are irregular."
