Summary
Expressing her appreciation for Rose Blaze de Bury and for her friendship, and regretfully declining an invitation to visit her in Paris; describing her extreme unhappiness with Meiningen ("such a horrible place without one single redeeming point that I can find. I never was so miserable anywhere. I think even Neville finds out that he has made a grievous mistake."); noting that they have been presented to the "Duke & Duchess" on two separate occasions, although she does not know "what this will lead to" and quoting a Mr. Forbes, saying of the Royal couple "He is as stupid as a post, she is gracious & ladylike, but you cannot understand a word she says"; lamenting the dullness of the inhabitants and the lack of acceptable society in Meiningen, where "they are all dependent on and waiters on their dear Duke".
