Summary
An extensive collection of letters written to and by William Ernest Henley primarily concerning personal, literary and theatrical matters and autograph manuscripts signed, fair copies and draft manuscripts, of many of Henley's poems. The collection includes 18 letters to Henley from Rudyard Kipling, 44 letters from J.M. Barrie, 10 letters from Henry James, 33 letters from T.E. Brown and 24 letters from Leslie Stephen. The collection also includes 95 letters from Henley to J.S. Farmer with whom he collaborated on the Dictionary of Slang. These letters are accessioned separately as MA 8020 but also appear as part of this collection, MA 1617.
