Summary:

Concerning the quotations; saying "...I think the multiplication of quotations, however laudable in theory, in practise may be carried too far. I'd be quite content to make a ten years limit, unless in extraordinary & venerable cases. The difficulty is to know where to choose. As to Vol. VI, let us keep it as like Vol. V as ever we can. 'So I says, & so I means to stick.' The changes you adumbrate are for another book;" adding, in a postscript, "As to P--ck. Shouldn't we include 'blade' (Davies : Epigrams)? 'For though his head be white, his blade is green'? I think we should; if it be possible. I think your agreements are all to the advantage of the work."
