Summary
Saying he has an "idle" copy of Cowden Clarke "Concordance" to Shakespeare and adding "I say 'idle' because the print's so small that I can't use it. Otherwise it would not have been forgotten so long. Anyway, I turned it up at 'Pick' & 'Pickle' & 'Pickthank' & Pickpurse'; and as I think we should never fail to quote Shakespeare when we can, I straightway had it packed & parcel-posted to you. I hope it will reach you in time for all these words...I approve generally, of this morning's batch; but in re 'Pettifogger'; doesn't your new article go too deep into derivations? We don't explain, you know : we only translate & classify;" asking him to look up a reference in "Tristam Shandy" when he is next in the British Museum.
