Summary
Thanking him for his "...generous appreciation of my work in point of its suggestiveness" and apologizing for the postcard he sent asking if had arrived; explaining "...that a large batch of copies had positively not reached their destination; & I had most unwillingly to make an effort to discover which had miscarried & which had not. That is the explanation of the post-card."
