Writing that he sent her a parcel of books a while ago and hopes she received and enjoyed them; including a epigram "which I made the other day on a stupid, money-loving dunderpate of a Galloway lairs--Maxwell of Cardoness" "Bless Jes-s Ch___, O Cardoness ..."; writing another as to why God made Miss Davies so little and Mrs. S--- so big; describing Miss Davies and Mrs. S---; writing "Ask why God made the gem so small ..."; adding that he thinks the previous was "pretty enough," but he has been outdone lately by a humble acquaintance; including another epigram, "Silence in love shews [greater (deleted)] deeper woe ..."
