Responding how pained he was to read that she thought he had given up on her correspondence; stating how out of spirits he has been; (dated July 8th) showing his appreciation for her and Dr. Moore mentioning him to Mr. Pulteney and showing his admiration for him; writing an elergy that he wrote some time ago, but was never printed, Elergy, "Strait is the spot & green the sod ..." (20 lines) and that he has marked the passages that strike him the most.
