Summary:

Replying that her hand is in a brace again so she can't write and many things have distracted her; listing that her niece's husbands were suddenly jerked into war and were in New York looking for a place to live, her maid was ill, five of her books were commandeered to fit in a soldier's pockets which caused an influx of letters from soldiers that needed to be answered, and she wanted to send out Christmas cards for the first time in three years which is what sent her back into a brace; worrying about Sergeant as the cold weather sets in and hoping she is in town and not alone; commenting that she is still 18 pounds underweight, and she doesn't see it getting any better with the food and watered milk situation; apologizing for her shortcomings and would love a letter, even though she doesn't deserve it.
