Apologizing that Sergeant had to order a copy of her novel (One of ours) and that she should have remembered to send her one; talking about how she enjoyed a recent visit with Will Whites, who teased her about being abandoned by the more literary reviewers; commenting that the debate about the book in magazines and newspapers is very lively; informing her that the book has sold ahead of "Babbitt" and "This freedom" last week in Chicago and Minneapolis; saying that Sergeant seems to have more literary news in New Mexico than she has in New York; discussing Galsworthy's new Jewish themed play "Loyalties" who she saw penned in between two Jewish matrons on a hot evening and wonders if he's having second thoughts; stating "I've just begun to learn how to write in this book, and I'm going right on!"
