Telling the story of how she sold the Bohemian girl for $500, but was offered $750; questioning leaving McClure's and detailing what Mr. (Cameron) Mackenzie did for her and an interaction a writer had with Miss Lewis; describing how she needs a copy done by July 1st and how she will struggle; saying that she received a note from Mr. Mackenzie requesting an outline for an unwritten opera singer story to advertise in the prospectus; writing "I've got such a case of stage fright about it that I don't see how I can ever put pen to paper. The brazen immodesty of having your unwritten plot discussed about the office"; wishing Sergeant could have stayed longer; showing her admiration for their friendship; concluding that she is staying in town for dinner at William Dean Howells.
