Rousseau's letter was sent with a letter from Joseph Donzé to Jarry, with which it is still housed. Donzé's letter has been cataloged separately as MA 22741.2.

Summary
Sending news regarding Jarry's mother's apartment on boulevard de Port-Royal, which was in the process of being cleaned out and rented; saying that he has retrieved Jarry's easel, a box of "célèbres acteurs" (a reference to Jarry's marionettes), and a Japanese lantern that he intends to use in his portrait of Jarry; enclosing a letter from Joseph Donzé, the concierge; writing further about Jarry's upcoming move; sending greetings to the "chevaliers de la palette" (a reference to Gauguin, Seguin and Filiger); apologizing for his scrawl, mentioning the lateness of the hour and a bad candle.
