Summary
Writing that she is in ill health and confined to her couch again, but "this is merely the consequence of my situation [i.e. pregnancy] ... it's better to be prudent than too careless." Writing that "Welchman thought it advisable to take a little blood from me since which I have been relieved. he promises I shall sit up again in a day or two." Suggesting that if her mother returns to England she should do so with Captain Ferguson, so that she could be accompanied by the Maxwell children. Apologizing that Charlotte has not written, stating that it is because "her dawk bill in consequence of a parcel from her Sister is 20rs. So she says you must forgive her." Asking her mother "if you think it would be a good plan to have Poky again if she would be active and attentive enough." Stating that she expects "to be in a fuss from the time the poor babe arrives which I reckon about the middle of March."
