Summary
Forwarding a letter from Anne in England addressed to her mother. Commenting that "I'm glad mine arrived first as we knew Billy Boy [William Makepeace Thackeray] had got rid of his Cough which in this [the attached letter to Mrs. Butler from an earlier date] his dear mother mentions with so much uneasiness." Reporting that "a heavy cloud has burst on the heads of the poor Englishes, poor Edwards misfortunes on the Stock Exchange", and that the Kennedys are no longer going to Calcutta.
