Summary
Writing that she has "sent you our dear Nanny's pack on Monday". Reporting that Mrs. Roberts (whose pregnancy is mentioned in an earlier letter) "experiences all the little illnesses attendant on her situation cannot be left alone," that "Charlotte from getting the nettle rash has had terrible head aches" but has recovered, and that she herself is in good health. The letter cuts off and resumes the next day, "for yesterday Mrs. Roberts fainted and today requires constant attention." Relaying that the Kennedys plan on going to Calcutta in the summer and have offered to take Mrs. Butler back with them when they return. Writing that "the blow that robbed us of one of the dearest on earth has rendered England no place for you," (a presumed reference to the death of Maria's sister, Harriet Graham).
