Wishing that her mother could have seen Charlotte's sister in Calcutta. Commenting on her mother's attempts to get compensation following the death of her husband (Edward William Butler). Writing about her new piano and some music she received from Charles Smyth. Complaining that Mrs. Halliday is ignoring Charlotte. Writing of a party she is planning and reporting that "that horrid woman Mrs. Birch has become Mrs. C. Boswell. it can't be legal its impossible."
