Summary
Writing that her mother "must be in Calcutta now", and that "if Captain Lee has not sailed and you find affairs wear a tolerable aspect I had almost rather you should join dear Harry," (her sister Harriet). Relating a pleasant visit from Colonel Paton, a friend of Alexander and her mother. Commenting on the arrival of their new grand piano and the quality of its sound. Reporting various local and personal news. Recalling a story Colonel Paton told about a George Fagan (not the Fagan who had previously offended Alexander), that he suffered from "deprivation of his senses," and that the illness "was sufficiently violent as to render confinement necessary, & that it was hereditary."
