Summary
Concerning medical treatment for her maid; saying "When I answered your first letter yesterday (MA 9781.7) I knew that you had made a mistake & had given me an account of my small nephew's eyes instead of my maid's but I was too polite to say so, hence the many questions I felt bound to ask you with regard to Tatry. I am most grateful to you for sending me Pagenstecher's account of Tatry's eyes as far as he can judge not having seen her, but as it would be extremely inconvenient to send her to Wiesbaden for an indefinite time, your idea of letting her see a specialist in London I think an excellent one. And would it do for me to arrange this & let Tatry be under the specialist's care for massage for a time & see how this answers? Do let me hear if you approve & which of the Drs. you mention you would prefer, also pray give their addresses - I hope to go to London Oct'r 26th for a week so if I have yr answer at once Tatry can see the specialist in London - & hear what he says - I should be so thankful if something could at last be done for my poor maid as it is most distressing to me to see her suffering from such a distressing thing. Hoping to hear that the gout has left you."
