Summary
Observing that this is the first Christmas in seven years that she has been apart from her mother and commenting the Christmas celebrations in her house. Advising her mother on preparations for her planned voyage to England. Writing that “when I think of that dear child so early bereaved I do hope you will have the means of accomplishing your wishes” (probably referring to Mary, the daughter of her late sister Harriet Graham). Advising her mother “to have some good medical advice” for “that terrible weakness.” Expressing her amusement at a letter from "dear, dear Nanny" that mentions “the accounts she gives poor Billy” (a likely reference to William Makepeace Thackeray). Relating a letter from Eliza Fenwick that “the dear good General quite well living in Devonshire.”
