Summary
Writing to her mother regarding her journey downriver, her feelings about the conflict between her family and the Fagans, and recent military successes on the part of the British army in India. Relating some connections she has discovered between her acquaintances in the British community in India, and complaining that Major Kennedy “often spoke to his good little wife in such an irritable snappish manner as to make her quite uncomfortable.” Reporting the death of Alexander's horse, to which they were both quite attached. Remarking that “Poor little Mr. Smith was nearly exterminated. he was shot twice through the pantaloons and escaped unhurt.”
