Summary
Apologizing for not having been able to see Irving, for which he feels guilty and hopes Irving does not blame him. He wanted to arrange a meeting that included (Marc-Antoine) Jullien, editor-in-chief of the Revue encyclopedique, and in order to arrange it, he put off the meeting for a few days. However, the day finally chosen ended up being the day of Irving's departure from Paris. He and Jullien look forward to seeing Irving again in Paris, since he, a publisher, and Jullien, an enlightened critic, have both contributed to making Irving's talent on the Continent and wish to give him the tribute he deserves.
