Summary
Congratulating her on the "...honour conferred on the Professor and you. We hope you are enjoying your lovely house and garden as much, or more than ever. We've been at our cot on the moor, and are going back there in a few days. 'Tis a strange summer, and I almost fear chrysanthemi may be out before delphinii! Farmers need much rain; the grass is very short, and the wild ponies are thin. Yesterday we went to see cricket at Harrow (spying out the land with a view to prospects at Lord's). They seem a strong eleven, and played very well; they would have won if there'd been time enough. Did you see the Spicer-Simson medallion of Ian, I wonder? We saw it today, and thought it very good. Very much love from us both, dear my lady, and friendliest congratulation to your lord."
